We thoughtfully select regional contemporary artists that exemplify ecological awareness within their work, sharing an undercurrent of advanced technical skill, advocacy, and stewardship. Each is a multitude of beings, as artists, entrepreneurs, educators, caretakers, leaders, culture bearers, and so much more.

Jen Shaffer
February, 2023 — May 2023

As an emerging artist, Shaffer is interested in exploring abstract composition using diverse materials—her current fascination is with contemporary magazines + catalogs mixed with vintage art history book pages. Using her graphic design background, Shaffer creates collages with a focus on strong areas of color with occasional bits of typography and images. She considers the process to be about creating—and solving—a visual puzzle.
