Ephemeral Flower Field Sketching is an incredible way to connect with an environment and sharpen observational skills. This workshop is an immersive outdoor experience within the beautiful landscape found at William O’Brien, located south of Osceola on the scenic highway 95, and concludes in the studio at the Natural Heritage Art Centre.

This three-week workshop was designed to be an engaging practice in field sketching with limited guidance. In this winter workshop, student will learn about FROGS—the eggs, tadpoles and adult frogs are a crucial component of many ecological communities.

The workshop aims to dig into creativity and break out of comfort zones for participants of all disciplines and skill levels. Learn the basics of mark making, visual storytelling, discuss various drawing techniques and experiment with different tools and media—wet and dry.

Using discarded materials such as cardboard, scrap paper, a few drops of glue, and paint—Learn to create forest-inspired masks to wear during the annual Winter Solstice Celebration on Wednesday, December 21st at the Natural Heritage Art Centre.

This is an introductory soft sculpture workshop. Each participant will create one complete linocut plushie, perfect for giving as a gift to squeeze and snuggle. Each student will start by designing their plushie, then transfer the image to a linoleum block to carve; once the carving is complete, we will print them on recycled fabrics and sew and stuff them. Everyone will leave the class with a completed gift to share with someone special (or keep for themselves).
